Essex Europe embodies more than 80 years of experience in winding wire production. 

Essex Europe is the combination of specialized companies acquired over the past years to become today the leading European producer with longstanding establishments in several European countries:  

  • Trefileries, Laminoirs et Fonderies, (Chauny, FRANCE): founded in  1922 
  •  Mafit, (Macon, FRANCE): setted up in 1940 
  • Thomson cuivre (FRANCE): early 80's 
  • Lacroix & Kress (GERMANY): founded in 1945, joined Essex in 1991
  • Lackdraht Union (GERMANY): founded in 1944, joined Essex in 1992 
  • Connollys (UK): founded in 1905, joined Essex in 1998
  • OPTEC DD (PORTUGAL): founded in 1992, joined Essex in 1999 
  • Invex (ITALY): founded in 1948, joined Essex in 2007  

The European parent entity has been named Essex Europe in 2007, when the Superior Essex group acquired the European winding wire activities of Nexans to become the world's leader for winding wire products. Superior Essex produces and sells winding wire in America, Europe and Asia.

Essex Europe's ultimate parent company is LS Group,a leading supplier in the electric power and electronic, materials and energy.
